Eduardo Souto holds a specialization in Business Administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (1995), a Masters degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2001), and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Federal University of Pernambuco (2007). He is currently an Associate Professor at the Institute of Computing (ICOMP) at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), where he works as a lecturer, researcher, and advisor at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels. From 1997 to 2001, he served as Director of the UFAM Data Processing Center. He was also the Coordinator of the Information Systems undergraduate program at UFAM from 2009 to 2013. He served as a member of UFAMs Superior Council for Teaching, Research, and Extension (20122013), a member of the Special Committee on Information Security of the Brazilian Computer Society (CESeg/SBC, 20132015), and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of FAPEAM (Amazonas State Research Foundation) from 2014 to 2022. At the international level, he is a member of the IEEE CTSoc Technical Committee on Consumer Systems for Healthcare and Wellbeing (CSH), collaborating on research and innovation initiatives in digital health technologies. He has strong experience in entrepreneurship and technology transfer. He is the co-founder of the startup Anyee, a company based in Manaus that was incorporated into Nheengatu Tech Solutions in 2022. He is also the co-creator of the IoT device IzBox, acquired by KawTech in 2016. As co-creator of more than 50 software systems, he received the 2021 Innovative Researcher Award for the Business Sector from the State of Amazonas (FAPEAM Science, Technology and Innovation Award) and the National CONFAP Science, Technology and Innovation Award in the Innovative Researcher category. In addition to company creation, he has participated in several national and international research projects funded by companies from the Manaus Industrial Hub (PIM), as well as by CNPq, CAPES, FAPEAM, and the European Commission. He also serves as a reviewer and member of program committees for major national and international conferences in his field. His research interests include computer networks, distributed systems, the Internet of Things, e-health, and network security.
