Full Professor at the Institute of Computing at the Federal University of Amazonas (IComp / UFAM) where he has worked as a researcher, professor and advisor of PhD's and master's candidate, as well as of undergraduates. He is the research leader of the Artificial Intelligence group. He conducted a sabbatical internship at the Center for Machine Learning of the Department of Computer Science in the City, University of London, England (2016-2017), in the area of Neural-Symbolic Computing (NeSy), where he investigated effective neural-symbolic representation for inductive learning , ''inventing'' predicates, and reasoning from large sets of raw data or logical specifications, in an explainable way. He did an internship at the Department of Computer Science at Carnegie Melon University, where he developed AI solutions to integrate software specifications and formal verification tools (February and March 2003). He completed a PhD in Artificial Intelligence (AI) from the University of Edinburgh (1998); master's degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1993) and a degree in Civil Engineering from UFAM (1987). He has practical experience in the application and development of AI / techniques for solving complex problems on a large scale, such as software defined networks (SDN), in detecting distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks and resilience problems. Experience in the mobile device industry, 2003 to 2006, where I am currently as project manager and mobile technology, integration and convergence of digital platforms.
