He is Bachelor in Data Processing from Universidade Federal do Amazonas (1991), master in Computer Science from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (1997) and PhD in Computer Science from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (2005). He did pos-doc at the University of Southampton in 2011. Has experience in Computer Science, focusing on the following areas: embedded and real-time systems, ubiquitous and pervasive systems, wireless sensor networks, Internet of Things and Cyber-physical systems.
